R.I.P Michael Jones

2 months ago By Terry Wilson

Former Colts and Juniors organiser from late 1970s and early 1980s passes away in Inverness.

The sad news has reached us ,via his wife of the death, of Mike Jones in mid May after a period of ill health.

Originally from Wales he was introduced to Stockton RFC by Len Horner who was a work colleague at that time and Mike's son played in our junior section.

He became very influential in the sphere of Junior and Colts rugby at Stockton during the late 1970s and early 1980s and helped build the foundations of our most successful playing period.

He donated the J M Jones trophy for the Most Improved Colt and was a life member of Stockton RFC.

In the mid 1980s work took Mike and his family away from Teesside to Inverness where they owned a very nice hotel - in which I had the privilge to stay.

Our condolences go to the Jones family.
