Club Dinner - another marvellous evening on Saturday 9 September

2 months ago By Terry Wilson

Great food, great company and great club spirit

The club dinner for 2016/7 season, postponed from mid May, was a sellout and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, especially those attending for the first time .

Speeches were mercifully short , many outlining the pride we all had in being members of the close knit but welcoming community that is Stockton RFC.

Awards were made as follows:-

Ron Jackson Trophy for Occasionals' Player of the Season : Nick Robinson

J M Jones Trophy for Most Improved Colt : Connor Hutchinson
T W Clarke trophy for the Colts Players' Player: Lewis Sutton
Stuart Meehan Trophy for Colt of the Season : Josh Yellow

T J McCarthy Trophy for Most Improved Stocktonian : Andrew Tyrrell
Mike Appleton Trophy : Stocktonians' Player of the Year : Shaun Briggs

BF Thornton trophy : Most Improved Saracen : Mike Harle
J Clark Trophy Saracens' Player Player: Glen Cockin
A Wilkinson Trophy : Saracens' Player of the Year : Stu Barrass

Brims Trophy : Club Most improved Player : Rhys McHugh
1st XV Players' Player : Jonny Horner
Conquest Trophy : Club Player of the Year : Dan Phinn

Lewy Gray finished the evening having gained 80 pounds - fortunately this was not avoirdupois ,but sterling ,as a result if the Stand Up Bingo run by Graham Kell

Many thanks to Newt for organising the event ,supported by Mike Appleton as MC ,plus Lynn Doherty and Paul Healey who sorted out the awards and Jane King who organised the excellent meal via Cleveland Caterers.

And thanks to all who attended and finished the evening with a rousing rendition of our Club Hymn: "The Oval Ball Game".
